Challenge
Kohl's realized there was great opportunity for them to improve the way they engage potential candidates through the Web site. They wanted to leverage their growing presence in the retail world through a redesign of their careers site that would powerfully convey how employees can "expect great things" at Kohl's. Within the site, Kohl's wanted to identify the key reasons why the company is the place for candidates to "start the story" of their careers. Goals for the Phase I site launch included:
- Convey the dynamic, energetic and friendly working environment within Kohl's – from corporate, to stores, to distribution centers.
- Identify great opportunities for advancement across different areas of the organization.
- Showcase all that Milwaukee has to offer for an active and fun lifestyle (to help draw potential movers to their corporate location)
- Highlight employees' experiences at Kohl's
Solution
Shaker designed the Kohl’s careers site with the aforementioned objectives in mind, making Phase I extremely user-friendly, organized and informative. The site tells the story about the tremendous growth and opportunity throughout the organization, and also features:
- Employee testimonials and photos
- A Life in Milwaukee section to emphasize the city’s culture and attractions
- Impressive and reputable brands unique to Kohl’s
Phase II design/development will enhance and build upon the existing "Start your story here" theme, offering candidates a more interactive and engaging look inside Kohl’s.
Results
With the recent June 2007 launch, it is too early to measure tangible results. Client satisfaction is extremely high as a result of the creative design and smooth functionality of the new careers site.
